Coin Shooting this morning at two parks...

This Morning I went Coin Shooting at two local parks, mainly checked out the Tot Lots. These places I have been to many times the last couple of years. The first park is next to my sisters house, when I got there I see that some changes have been made, part of the wooded area has been cut down and the park extended. The search here has produced .57 cents 3 dimes, 2 nickels and 17 pennies and a button. I searched for about an hour.

I then went to the second park, also searched for an hour. Did pretty good here, found $1.42 and a couple of buttons. Found this $1.00 coin which registered a strong quarter on my ACE 250, when I dug it was about 2 inches down next to the parking lot at first I thought it was a quarter but than saw that it was a little larger thats when I saw that it was a $1.00 coin. Than I got 2 quarters, 1 dime, 3 nickels and 7 pennies from this park.

This Morning, coin shooting at two schools...

This morning I went out coin shooting at two elementary schools, on the way to the first location it started to rain. I hoped that it would stop, was light with some fine drizzle was a while when it finally did stop. I didn't find a whole lot but didn't come out empty handed either, found .24 cents one dime, one nickel and 9 pennies. After here, I went to the second school here I did much better found $2.06 and a fancy button. It was 6 quarters, 4 dimes, 2 nickels and 6 pennies. As I was getting ready to stop for the day a young boy came over to me and asked if he could help me dig, I told himm that I was finished and getting ready to leave. He asked some questions so the two of talked for a short time.

Very Warm Morning for Coin Shooting...

Went back to the park at the beach for some Coin Shooting, did okay.found some coins at the Tot Lot, before finishing at the play area I found what I thought was shell bracelet sticking out of the woodchips under the kiddy slid. Turned out to be a box covered in little shells with a yellow ribbon tied around it. When I got back to the car I opened up the mystery box, inside I found a rosary and some kind of plactic bag which that I thru out. The only thing from that I kept was the rosary. The box was wet and in poor shape so I tossed that too. Did find a lot of coins, also what looked like some type of clip, after I got home I took it apart and found that it had 2 dimes and 3 pennies. Also found a key and a wheat penny 1953D.

Hot and Muggy day for detecting...

I finally got out been awhile, went to the park at the beach the last 3 days there was a festival so I decided to go and see if I'd do good. Most of the park was still fenced off so I searched the TotLot and all away around the fence, didn't go beyond the fence will another time when everything is back to normal. Still did pretty good even thou I was dealing with leg/foot and back pain (have to get myself moving again). I found what looks like a Jade bracelet (feels like stone) the center stone has an image of a bat (found out it means Good Luck). Also, 6 religous charms/beads looks like something from a craft store, was broken so only found 6 of them.

Did some Coin Shooting...

Went Coin Shooting to 2 locations, first was the park at the beach. I was gonna search the Tot Lot thats where I saw alot of kids playing there yesterday. When I got to the park I saw another person there with a detector and saw evidence that the play area was searched. So I went to a different area next to a resturant, I have been eyeing that area sent the fall. I did pretty good found $2.03 in a small area (I will search that area again). Also, found the thingy with the #2 must of been something in the center for I can see that there is a small hole on each side. The two items in the center I found a the Elementary school I went to after searching the park. When I got to the school as I was getting out of the car I saw a shiney penny on the pavement. At the school I did find some more coins, I have done pretty good here last season (found .73 cents).

Wasn't Planning on Coin Shooting Today but Changed my Mind

This morning I didn't feel like doing any metal detecting but changed my mind, the weather was beautiful up near 70. Don't know how many more nice days we will have before it starts to get really cold and snow. I went to 2 parks the first was in another town, has two Tot Lots I have been to this location a couple of times already. Of the coins found one quarter looks like it had a run in with a mower and lost. Also, found a small bullet casing/shell in the woodchips next to a bench and a tiny charm which reads claire's on it. Found $1.63 in clad at this park. The second location I decided to do since it was still early and my muscles are not hurting to bad right now. Did pretty good here, found $2.00 in coins and a bunch of bottles and cans for the refund deposit.

Went to Two Elementary Schools

This morning, I decided to get out and do some coin shooting after a rainy and windy day yesterday, the next few days look like it's gonna rain some more but a lot milder. The first school was a spur of the moment, when I drove by made a quick turn into the parking area. Found some coins .47 cents not a whole lot. Probably would of found more but didn't search very far and hard. The second school (nicknamed goose poop school, this time not to messy) was a planned location and here I did better than I did the last time I was here, found $1.46 and some kind of (Ah, an earring) the picture is the earring the size is 2 5/8" dia. junk earring but still interesting it was onto of the grass-eyeball find.

October 20, 2010 Finds...

Yesterday morning went to the park at the beach last trip there for the season, will return to this location in the spring for coin shooting. The finds are starting to get thin and it's very cold next to the lake. I started out searching the Tot Lot found two coins there a quarter and a dime, then went to where the soda machines where located and searched the ground there found some more lost coins, didn't have the interference from the machines. Than over to one of the pavilions did find a coin spill of 3 quarters and a penny in one hole, did find coins in other parts of the park. This token was found next to the band pavilion at first thought it was a quarter. Spent about 3 hours and was very cold, so called it a day. Today it's in the 40's and rainy so not going out, gonna focus on hand made crafts for Christmas today...

Again, Missed Silver by One Year...

This morning I went over to the park near my sister's house, have done very good at this location this year. Last year I found a 1964 quarter at this park I'm hoping there will be more. Of the quarters found today two of the are 1965's (bummer) missed again. I did find a lot of coins here, the oldest coin found today is the 1947 nickel found this in the TotLot. Other things found was this bracelet, not a good piece but still a good find. Found the bracelet in the grass just under the roots (the size is 2 2/8" dia.). Also found this pendant, was found along the edge of basketball court on the pavement (the size is 1 2/8" L x 1" W). I plan on going back there tomorrow, if not raining...

After a Couple Days Rain...

Finally got out after some very wet and windy days. I went on to 3 elementary schools I think I did very good. The first school found a $1.61 in clad coins, one area I found a dime sandwiched between two pennies, cool. Now on to the second location hoping no one is playing in the Tot Lot, no one there so I continued on to searching, I did very good here just like I did the other week. Found $3.62 in clad, one area had a spill of 4 quarters a dime and some pennies. Also, found a toy car it is bigger than a Hot Wheel, on the bottom says Disney Pixer-China than a number 2567 EA. The last school for the day not good, did find .15 cents on top of the woodchips. The two coins caught my eye from the shine the sun was causing. Tomorrow, I plan on going back to the park and search more around the basketball and tennis courts, did very good there the other day.

Missed Silver by One Year...

This morning the weather looked iffy it was cold, very dark clouds for awhile I expected it to start raining, but it didn't. I went to this park I was at the other day across from the mall, this time I searched next to 2 basketball courts. Did very good, in fact next to one court I was digging out quarters and dimes, many holes had multiple coins. On my ACE 250 got a signal that registered .50 cents and when I dug the target it was 2 quarters back to back. After I got back home from 2 hours of searching, getting muddy and very wet feet. I cleaned the coins off so I could tally my finds, one quater was a 1965 and one dime also was a 1965 (bummer) I will be going back there very soon, maybe tomorrow if weather permits.

Columbus Day Search...

Today is Columbus Day and weather pretty good other than chilly. I went to the park at the beach to search some, the finds are starting to get thin not many people coming down to the lake now. Found some clad, nothing in the TotLot except for one button on the backside it says "Waterbury Co's Inc. Conn." On the way back to my car I found this ring in very good condition the middle stone is pink and the side ones are clear has no mark. I believe it's not real but makes a good addition to my collection of rings. Also found a 1958 nickel that I need for my album. Tomorrow I plan on going to the park I searched the other day, has basketball courts, tennis courts and the bleachers by a couple of ball fields.

A Morning at 3 Parks...

This morning, I went Coin Shooting at 3 parks I have been to in the past. I think I did very good today even at one park I had bad results in the past. The first park was a good start of the morning searches, found a couple of bottles for the return deposit and a lot of clad coins totaling $1.67 for this park. The second location was the one that was bad in the past and did fairly good today, found .12 cents in the woodchips a dime and 2 pennies. In one hole found a spill of coins totaling .41 cents I got a total of .87 cents at this park. The third and last place for the day was the best, found a single key (looks like a car key)and a lot of clad coins, again one hole had a spill totaling .52 cents, in this park I totaled $1.92.

I'm off to search some schools...

Went coin shooting at some elementary schools this morning, had planned on gooing to three of them. The first school did not do good, found .11 cents, I know if I went into other parts of the school I probably would of done good but just searched the TotLots and this place had two of them. The second school was worst, I never did good at this school in the past found .01 penny. The third school was the goose poop place, didn't stay because the grounds crew was working at the play area (adding new woodchips), so I went to a different school I had not planned on visiting today. Did okay here, found one earring under a picnic table and some clad coins, found .83 cents three of the pennies found were Canadian. Than I was off to the last school for the day, I found some clad coins here also .33 cents and a childs ring. Had fun finding the earring and ring even though they are not the real thing.

Found a Ring and Buzz Light Year...

This morning, I went to two parks each one I searched the TotLots the first location not much after digging in the woodchips. I went into the skate park that is where the skate boarders and roller bladers play. I searched for coins (eye-balling) found a little over .10 cents, a nickel and pennies. I than turned on my machine and searched some of the grass along the tall fence, that is when I found this ring (I see no mark on the inside) and the Buzz Light Year also along the fence, on the back of Buzz it says "offical Pin Tra (can't make out the rest of the word)-2002-Disney Pixar-Made in China" and 1 Canadian penny. Clad found at this park was .62 cents. I than went to the next place haven't been to this park since last year, found a lot of clad coins $1.60.

Back to School...

This morning I went back to searching Elementary schools. Since the kids have started back for the school year, today searched three. The first school found some clad, here I found .83 cents and one earring the only mark on the back side is Disney. After this school I went on to another not to far away. I did very good here more clad coins just about everywhere, I found $3.30 the gold tone bow from a necklace and the zipper-pull thingy with the name Cody. Than on to the third and last school for the day, located not far down the road, also did good here found $2.18 in clad and another house key.

Coin Shooting at 2 Parks...

Went to search at two parks this morning, first one is near my sister's house. I found a bunch of clad and this bullet, looks like it could come from the same kind of bullet case I found yesterday. At this park I found $2.60, one of the quarters I dug up here I missed it by being silver by 1 year, it was a 1965. Last year, I did find a 1964 quarter by the tennis courts in this park.

Park two is a bit smaller it always gives me some finds. Clad found here is $1.36 and two house keys, first key found was in the wood chips and the second one I dug out of the ground. Both registered as a penny on my ACE250.

Another Morning at the Park on the Beach...

I have been having back and leg pain so not getting out at much right now, but I did get out this morning especially since the weather is starting to get cooler. I went back up to the park at the beach, started in the Tot Lot there I found a few pennies, not many going to the park lately.
There ia a memorial for the Vietnam Vets and the other Wars that have happened located near the play area, I searched near there and found these bullet casings the two cleaner ones I found on the surface of the ground the others I dug (all were about 2in. down (found 17). In the past I did find 1 that I dug up. I believe it was from a service that was performed there on the Holiday and then did 21 gun firing.

Up near the board walk, I found some pennies. I than got a strong penny signal when I dug it up seeing the the grooves I thought was a stack of pennies as soon as it was out of the ground I saw it was this ring. It is a junk ring. As I was heading back again near the area of the Memorial I come across a coin spill 6 quarters and 1 nickel were recovered from the hole. I searched for about 2 hours than called it a day for I was starting to hurt again. I do plan on going out again in the morning, need to excercise the back.

A Little Coin Shooting...

This morning I decided to try and get back into detecting so I went to the park at the beach, the temp. was rather chilly when I arrived than turned into a nice cool morning, no problems with the heat or humidity (ah, it felt good). I searched the Tot Lot, only a few coins the first one was a quarter. So I went on into the park, here I found many coins some areas had spills and many were found on the surface. Before I left I stopped at the Carousel to say Hi to Michael, he's the guy that runs it. He was getting it ready to shut down for the winter. Afterwards, I decided to call it a day (to my surprise) it was almost noon and I started at 7AM. As I was walking back to my car I decided to search around two more picnic tables I found more coins and a spill of pennies. Today I searched for 5 hours, not including the break at the Carousel.
