Beautiful Spring Day.

It is so beautiful out today, but decided not to go detecting instead pick our son up for our Saturday visit. Before going to get him we stopped at BK's for breakfast, when I went to get hubby a coffee refill I spotted a penny on the floor (was a Canadian penny) but still a penny. Later in the day we went to the beach/park with our son, there were lots of kids playing in the Tot Lot. I think I'll hit that area tomorrow morning before the weather gets bad, should find something.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day...

Happy St. Paddy's Day, finally the weather has gotten warmer and I was out doing a little detecting/coin shooting. Also, first day detecting last year started on St. Paddy's day, hmmm wonder if that'll be a good sign that I'll find something good :-) this year . The first day took it slow due to bad back. I went to the park at the beach and searched around in the totlot, didn't find to much but that was expected with it being a long cold winter not many people out. I heard and saw many geese heading north a beautiful sight and sound. Also, spotted several Robins with not getting out much today was the first day I saw them.

Got My Two Cents...

This morning my husband and I did our regular thing for today, first was to get the Sunday paper. As I was getting out of the car I spotted to pennies on the cement edging of a flower bed, there is construction going on at this plaza so it was kind of a messy area. Later in the day we all stopped at the park on the beach, wish I had my ACE with me even if I did the ground was so wet and cold.

Brrrrr.... It's Cold This Morning

Went to two locations this morning, first was a elementary school I was there 2 weeks ago and did good not that great today. I did find this kids charm in the wood chips, picture shows the front and back it's the size of a penny, also found .63 cents. Had several days that were rainy probably causing the children not getting out to much for play. I than decided to go back to the park at the beach even though I mentioned I was done there for the season, here I found 3 bottles and a can and .76 cents in coins.

Walk on the Beach...

After breakfast we went for a walk on the beach. The weather is nice and quite warm but not raining (yet), storm is expected tonight. I scavenged for items to use in my crafts, while looking I spotted a shiney circle reflecting from the sunshine on the sand, I walked over and found a penny, again saw another reflection and another penny, than I spotted some more found a total of five pennies on the surface of the sand...When I got back home I saw that the bottle I put the found money in was missing, I lost it probably at the park (bummer), so the money I found and bottle returns from the beginning of this month to yesterday is lost. To make me feel a little better my husband gave me the money to replace what was lost so I could put into the savings for "Found Money". He's so sweet :-)

October 20, 2010 Finds...

Yesterday morning went to the park at the beach last trip there for the season, will return to this location in the spring for coin shooting. The finds are starting to get thin and it's very cold next to the lake. I started out searching the Tot Lot found two coins there a quarter and a dime, then went to where the soda machines where located and searched the ground there found some more lost coins, didn't have the interference from the machines. Than over to one of the pavilions did find a coin spill of 3 quarters and a penny in one hole, did find coins in other parts of the park. This token was found next to the band pavilion at first thought it was a quarter. Spent about 3 hours and was very cold, so called it a day. Today it's in the 40's and rainy so not going out, gonna focus on hand made crafts for Christmas today...

A Very Windy Day of Detecting at the Beach/Park...

This morning finally not raining so I got out for some coin shooting. Went back to the Park at the beach, with not any people there the finds are starting to get thin but still able to find coins. I started out in the Tot Lot only a couple of pennies and someones drivers license under one of the play equipment on top of the woodchips. I also found a charm from a cell phone with XOXO as the design, the colors of the letters are pink and purple. there was a metal gold color leaf, possibly part of an earring. A small toy police officer and a piece of copper pipe. The license that I found was a under 21 kind, after I got home I called one of the neighbors about my find and who to call to return it to the owner. He suggested I call 311 and they had a police officer come and get it, the officer said I could of dropped it into the mailbox and it would of been delivered to the person (Hmm, good to know for the future if another one is found). After I got home and cleaned the coins I saw that I found a Wheatie a 1956D.

Another Morning at the Park on the Beach...

I have been having back and leg pain so not getting out at much right now, but I did get out this morning especially since the weather is starting to get cooler. I went back up to the park at the beach, started in the Tot Lot there I found a few pennies, not many going to the park lately.
There ia a memorial for the Vietnam Vets and the other Wars that have happened located near the play area, I searched near there and found these bullet casings the two cleaner ones I found on the surface of the ground the others I dug (all were about 2in. down (found 17). In the past I did find 1 that I dug up. I believe it was from a service that was performed there on the Holiday and then did 21 gun firing.

Up near the board walk, I found some pennies. I than got a strong penny signal when I dug it up seeing the the grooves I thought was a stack of pennies as soon as it was out of the ground I saw it was this ring. It is a junk ring. As I was heading back again near the area of the Memorial I come across a coin spill 6 quarters and 1 nickel were recovered from the hole. I searched for about 2 hours than called it a day for I was starting to hurt again. I do plan on going out again in the morning, need to excercise the back.

Went Back to the Park at the Beach...

Figured I search the area near the Carousel, different grassy area. Found some clad coins and another President $1.00 coin (Thomas Jefferson 3rd president 1801-1809) 2007P. After a bit I went a little into the sandy area, while searching around a large tree I spotted a Dragonfly sitting on a stick (he was rather large compared to the ones seen flying around). I took the stick with the insect sitting on it and lightly touched it to the tree, it raised a leg and walked onto the bark. Didn't want it to get stepped on and it was still in the sunshine (probably trying to warm up). Wish I had my camera with me when I saw that. Soon I will be getting back to my drawing, something to do in the winter...

A Little Coin Shooting...

This morning I decided to try and get back into detecting so I went to the park at the beach, the temp. was rather chilly when I arrived than turned into a nice cool morning, no problems with the heat or humidity (ah, it felt good). I searched the Tot Lot, only a few coins the first one was a quarter. So I went on into the park, here I found many coins some areas had spills and many were found on the surface. Before I left I stopped at the Carousel to say Hi to Michael, he's the guy that runs it. He was getting it ready to shut down for the winter. Afterwards, I decided to call it a day (to my surprise) it was almost noon and I started at 7AM. As I was walking back to my car I decided to search around two more picnic tables I found more coins and a spill of pennies. Today I searched for 5 hours, not including the break at the Carousel.

This Morning Searched 2 Tot Lots...

The first place I went to was the beach play area, found my first Kennedy Half Dollar Bicentennial one, I was hoping it be of silver but hey was fun to see it in the woodchips. It registered on my machine as a strong $1.00. Found a total of $1.33 in clad in the play area. I decided to go to another park after this Tot Lot. Did pretty good there also lots of nickels usually don't get to many nickels, more pull tabs than nickels. I noticed on my machine that when it's a nickel the signal is strong not moving around and loud. Found most of the coins around the picnic pavilion. At this place I found $1.00 in clad coins.

Back to the Beach...

This morning, I headed back to the beach to search for more coins found $1.57 and hope to get a good find but not at this park. (Do have to say that these flies are annoying). After here, I decided to stop at another park for a quick search did find .02 cents thought I'd find more but what was registering dimes and pennies where bottle caps did find this Scout scarf holder.

Another Morning at the Beach...

This time I was gonna pass by the Totlot, but did a quick scan at the swings found .26 cents the first coin of the morning was a quarter. I than walked over to the area I had in mind for searching, I checked around a large rock found some coins and this Ugly ring which registered dime on my machine.

Than I went over to the picnic tables by the board walk, here I found many coins and this bracelet which registered as a high quality penny, I believe it's made of copper. The pennies I perfer to find are the higher grade, pre 1982.

After an afternoon at the beach, my husband and I stopped at Big Lots to get some motor oil. I checked out but had wait for my husband to finish shopping, while waiting I spotted a penny on the floor.

Coin Shooting Morning of August 24, 2010...

I was driving to the beach this morning, spotted 3 deer feeding on the side of the road as I slowed down the car noise caused them to look up at me, a beautiful sight. In this town you can come across areas with deer, last year I saw one running across someones front yard.
Last week at the beach, I talked with a lady nicknamed the "Purple Lady" for she wears purple all the time. She told me that she collects pull tabs for "MS" I told her that I had alot and that she could have them (I have no use for them), she told me who to drop them off to an old gentleman that always sits at the beach, he will give them to her (saw him there many times). I took the bag in today, when I walked up to see if he was the person I spotted a penny on the sidewalk.
Searched a little over an hour the Totlot and some of the grassy area.

A Morning at the Beach...

This morning, I went back to the beach to search the park. Not much at all in the TotLot, did find a dime and this pin, had to cut thru the material under the woodchips to get at the pin, it is 1" long x 7/8" at widest point. Has a circle with a green cross and the words on the pin says Rochester Safety Council - the words around the circle says Universal Safety one little word on the bottom is hard to make out. Also found a lot of pennies 13 are pre-1982's. Met some nice people this morning, one couple asked if I found something and at that moment it was a bottle cap but mentioned that my machine registered a quarter and there was still something in the hole, my pro-pointer was buzzing. Ah, got the quarter and a dime. Was out for about 2 hours. The 1969D dime at first thought was a 1960D, no luck after cleaning it a bit more I noticed the 0 was a 9.

Some of this mornings finds...

This morning I was glad to be out detecting, haven't been out with the Ace since Friday morning. Had problems in our neighborhood with neighbors having loud parties (police was called many times from the neighbors) and and the house next to us had a very large group of people 50+ in the small apartment, after they all piled out someone started shooting. This making it a very long sleepless night making Saturday a very tired day and Sunday it rained. I have to say city living is the pits.
I did find these items in the woodchips of the TotLot at the beach also found another Chucky Cheese token 2007, along with alot of clad coins. Did very good at one swing set, at one swing found .62 cents at the other end of the swings found 2 quarters. Dimes were found just about everywhere in the play area.
Did check the grassy area found some more coins. Tomorrow, I will go to some play areas I haven't been to for a while and see if they were re-stocked.

Hot and Very Humid Morning...

Went Coin shooting at the beach/park this morning as I was getting my things out of the car I spotted a penny on the ground next to the car. Than I searched the TotLot first found some clad coins and this token next to a swing, at first I thought I had another dollar coin but no. After the play area I started searching the grassy area, it was very humid had a very hard time seeing glasses kept fogging up, went to the end near the water was a bit cooler and was able to see. Did check a little in the sand found a quarter (didn't stay long on the sand as mentioned earlier for me it's hard to walk on).

On the way back home I start seeing that the trees are getting a tint of fall color, one tree is already a orange.

A morning at the Beach/Park...

I see that I need this date for my nickel coin album, has no mint mark on the reverse side.

The tokens where found near the Band Gazebo between 2 picnic tables. Found the three and also the 3 blank ones on top of the grass, some had been found without the detector...

The earring was found in the TotLot next to the play equipment. I see no metal mark so don't think it's a good one. I did find a lot of coins in the play area guess the break gave it a change to refill with coins. I was Lucky no one went there while I was away. Today, I did very good at this park. Searched for 2 1/2 hours and the temp. was beautiful. Tomorrow is first Saturday of the month and our Club meeting for GVTS, I always get in some coin shooting at a school before the meeting.

Small finds at the beach gets a Wheat penny...

I went to the beach today for a 2 hour search, didn't find a whole lot but did find this 1946D wheat. The area I searched possibly doesn't get a lot of people there is a coffee house and bathhouse at the end I searched, the volley ball area and carousel is at the other end and more of the picnic pavilons. I did find a lot of pennies, many of them are pre-1982...
